I kept telling myself that over again,
testing time in this trance
that I thought would define everything about me.
Between my heart and my mind, I couldn't decide
the right time to make my move
and show the world what it means to live.
But along the way you understand
that the true measure of being a man is to
love, live, and forgive.
The clock strikes 5 and I'm awake
knowing that, in my current state,
I probably shouldn't be thinking.
There's a loved one on my mind.
In fact, she's there all the time,
but tonight, her brown eyes are glistening.
It's not that I don't miss you,
because I wish I could hold you and kiss you, but
at this point, it seems I'm way too late.
A part of me is dying without your love,
but I'm not denying
that my selfishness decided our fate.
Between you and me,
there's some unclean history
that never makes for a clean slate.
My feet are shaking in my shoes
because there's quite a few faces in this room
in which we probably could relate.
And the wild card in me is giving thought that there could be
such thing as a third chance,
but my heart is trying to move on, so all I have left is this song
that tells the story of an interesting romance.
Strayed so far away from my comfort zone.
I'm traveling out into the unknown.
To write my history, I had to leave home.
It's funny how much you learn when you're alone.
